About Bert Bauer
Bert Bauer is a seasoned traveler claiming many miles of life experiences. Not as a vacationing traveler or career student but as a responsible single parent bringing a daughter and son into adulthood.
Bert has spent many years as a social worker dedicated to provision of public mental health services to Atlanta and the State of Georgia. He served as an enlisted soldier beginning as Private and rising to the rank of senior army officer on active duty in both Gulf Wars.
Widowed over twenty years ago, Bert has learned parental survival skills as a solo parent. He understands the complexity and disappointments of a society which is not often fair. As a consultant and novelist, now working out of his office in the North Georgia Mountains, Bert spends his days as a practicing clinical therapist and novelist.
Bert participated in building a once prestigious state mental health system in Georgia. He was the first senior social work officer allowed into the war room of battle planning as the mental health planning officer in Kuwait for the invasion of Iraq. As a senior social work officer, Bert has experienced first hand the trauma's of war and has counseled many soldiers, helping them through some of the toughest experiences life has to offer.
